Rice Mil worker killed in Naogaon boiler explosion

A Rice Mill worker named Abdul Khalek was killed in a boiler explosion at a rice mill in Naogaon. Four other workers were injured in the incident.
The accident occurred around 7:00AM on Wednesday at the Haji Isharat Ali Rice Mill in the Hapania-Lakshanpur area of Sadar Upazila.
The deceased, Abdul Khalek, 45, was the son of Bashir Uddin from the Hapania Para area. The four injured workers are currently receiving treatment at the Naogaon 250-Bed General Hospital.
According to local eyewitnesses and police sources, 12 workers were on duty at the Haji Isharat Ali Rice Mill on Wednesday morning, just as they were every day. Paddy was being steamed in the boiler at the time. Around 7:00AM, the boiler suddenly exploded with a loud bang.
The explosion scattered the boiler's drum, various parts and bricks. Several workers positioned atop the boiler were thrown off and injured. Following the blast, as the area became engulfed in smoke, the workers, panicking from the explosion, scrambled in all directions.
Locals rushed to the scene and rescued the five injured workers, but Abdul Khalek, who had sustained severe injuries later died on his way to the hospital.
Meanwhile, locals reported that the rice mill owner fled the scene immediately after the accident.
Pradip Banerjee, Inspector (Investigation) of Naogaon Sadar Model Police Station, stated that police were dispatched to the site upon receiving news of the boiler explosion. Legal proceedings regarding the incident are currently underway.
